We had the pleasure to listened to 3 artists about their journey in their career and lives’ as an artist. It was nice to hear a fresh perspective from people who have gone out into the real world and actually struggle and succeed as an artist. I found their stories to be motivating and inspiring, gave me new ambition and willpower to be persistent in my profession.
Some of the main points that stuck with me were:
-Push yourself beyond your limits
-Surround yourself with like-minded people.
-Don’t give up! You’ll get a thousand NO’s before you get a Yes.
-Dream big and take risks.
-Do your research.
-Always have an open mind, read books, educate yourself.
-Learn about the world, gain perspective, explore your purpose in life and community.
-Build a support system, helps keep your focus and motivated.
-Believe in yourself and your work.
-Be curious, try new things and new mediums. Keep an open mind to everything and attach to nothing.
-Set timelines, is one of the biggest obstacles. Push yourself to finish work on a schedule and dedicate time to be creative.
-Stay humble
-Never give up. You’ll find a way, if not; you’ll make one.
